Wedding Planning
9 to 12 months before the wedding
- Choose the date and time of wedding.
- Reserve place for the ceremony- meet with Clergy if necessary.
- Discuss wedding budget with your fiancé and/or parents.
- Choose a location for the reception and make reservations.
- Visit Clergy or Judge for specifics about wedding.
- Select your attendants and other wedding party participants i.e. vocalists, organist, reader
- Begin preparing the bride and grooms guest list
- Establish a theme and color scheme for the wedding.
- Begin Shopping for and order the bridal gown and headpiece as soon as possible.
- Choose attendants attire and accessories.
- Reserve musicians for the wedding ceremony .
- Reserve musician or DJ for the reception.
- Look into caterer for reception.
- Register at local and/or internet bridal registry.
6 to 9 months before the wedding
- Reserve wedding date with the florist.
- Order invitations and/or announcements.
- Reserve Photographer and/or Videographer.
- Shop for and order or purchase wedding rings.
- Discuss honeymoon ideas and consult travel agent if necessary.
- Reserve transportation or limousine service for wedding party.
- Discuss plans for out-of-town guests make up directions from local motels to ceremony and reception
2 to 4 months before the wedding
- Meet with florist to order flowers- make sure to have color swatches and your theme with you!
- Finish Bride and Groom guest lists
- Address invitations and announcements.
- Purchase wedding accessories; toasting goblets, cake server, garter - Don't forget an extra garter to throw!
- Choose wedding favors.
- Purchase gifts for attendants.
- Order your wedding cake.
- Confirm rehearsal date and time.
- Choose rehearsal dinner location and time
- Plan lodging for out-of-towners.
- Order tuxedos for Groom and Groomsmen.
- Select ceremony and reception (first dances) music
- Meet with photographer for wedding portrait.
- Finalize details with caterer and the reception hall.
- Confirm delivery date of your wedding gown.
- Meet with travel agent to finalize plans for the honeymoon.
4 to 6 weeks before the wedding
- Mail invitations
- Meet with DJ to finalize Wedding Reception Agenda
- Final fitting of wedding gown.
- Choose headpiece for bride and bridesmaids.
- Finalize last minute details with caterer and the reception hall.
- Final meeting with photographer and videographer to finalize details.
- Pick up wedding rings.
- Purchase Brides gift.
- Purchase Grooms gift.
- Final meeting with florist to review and finalize order.
- Arrange Bridesmaid's luncheon/breakfast/party.
- If reception is a formal sit down dinner, arrange seating chart for reception.
- Write thank you notes for shower and wedding gifts as they arrive.
- Send announcement to local newspapers.
- Make an appointment with your hairdresser and do a trial run hair style.
- Address wedding announcements to be mailed on your wedding day.
2 to 4 weeks before the wedding
- Make final payments to clergy/judge musician's and DJ
- Make final payments to florist; confirm delivery locations and times.
- Obtain marriage license-don't forget to take your fiancé.
- Begin to make any necessary name changes on bank accounts
- Obtain forms for changing name on your social security card
- Contact guests who have not responded to the invitation.
- Prepare the wedding favors.
1 week before the wedding
- Finalize guest count to caterer and the reception hall.
- Give your bridesmaid luncheon/breakfast/party.
- Arrange your transportation to the ceremony site.
- Arrange transportation for guests arriving at the airport.
- Attend rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
- Give gifts to attendants at rehearsal dinner.
- Prepare and confirm honeymoon travel plans.
THE WEDDING DAY
- Enjoy your trip to the hairstylist and makeup artist!
- Pack your overnight bag and touch-up makeup bag and take to the ceremony/reception.
- Bring marriage license and wedding rings to the ceremony.
- Prepare to start dressing at least two hours before wedding start time.
- Take a deep breath and walk down the isle!!
